Sketch Time with OA...

When I saw THIS sketch with Jill Sprott for October Afternoon, I knew I had to give it a go...I love the circular elements with the stitching.

Here's my take on it:

No matter what I do, my oldest daughter often ends up with hilariously large tangled weekend 'do.
So funny....not so much when it's time to comb it out though, lol.

Used a fun mix of my OA stash, including my last piece of my favorite star paper!

Love how the red stitching turned out too.
Happy creating and happy weekend to you!

Old+New with MME...

As I get around to playing with each new favorite product from CHA, I love to open up my stash from that same manufacturer, and mix the old with the new!

One of my very favorite papers from CHA is this one from the MME My Girl collection:

Such great color, and love the thick, segmented chevron pattern.  Here's what I made with it:

The background is just a bunch of messy fun-with-stamps, glitter, and paint. :)

Along with my fave new paper and word stickers, I added accents from Nostalgia and On The Sunny Side, some Indie Chic stamps, and some very-old glitter alphas.

A second layout, a very simple one, using lots of photos and lots left-over paper strips.  Love that MME leaves that little strip of pattern along the bottom...I've used them on several projects like this, and am sure I will again.

Lining up all the paper strips is such a great, super-quick graphic element...and wonderful way to get a multi-photo page done in no time.

Elle’s Studio & Perfect Paper Crafting blog hop...

Welcome to the Elle’s Studio & Perfect Paper Crafting blog hop! We have lots of inspiration for you at each stop in the hop, using their amazing rulers and Elle’s Studio products. And don't forget to enter the giveaway (it's a big one!) by hopping along to each blog and leaving a comment.
If you haven’t heard of Perfect Paper Crafting, go check them out! These unique rulers allow you to cut perfect borders around your photos without measuring. You can go from 1" borders all the way down to a 1/16" border. Besides the amazing rulers, they also have mats and boards; and tools that turn your markers into airbrushes.  Whether you scrapbook, make cards or do mixed media; you will find these patented tools help you to make your creative masterpieces "Perfect".

Perfect Paper Crafting is also doing a special discount on their tools just for you all this week...use coupon code Elle5% to get 5% off your order.

Here's the project I created:
It was so easy to create these triple-layered diamonds for my layout, using the 1/8", 1/4", and 1/2" ruler edges. I was also able to quickly make a thin diamond-shaped frame for my photo with these tools.  I love how precise and straight each edge is...much better than my old & tired paper trimmer for this type of precision work!
Lol, where are the other halves of my eyebrows in this pic?!
To create the circles, I used the Perfect Squares tool as a tracing stencil...love tools that can pull double-duty like that.

Perfect Paper Crafting will be giving away a $50 gift certificate, and Elle’s Studio is giving away a complete collection of Day to Day and Serendipity, so make sure you stop at each blog and leave a comment to be entered to win.
Here is how you can win:
1.  You have until midnight PST, on Friday, April 19 to complete the hop. We will announce the winners on our blog: http://blog.perfectpapercrafting.com/ and on Elle’s Studio blog

Late to the Play Date...

I had fun making time for the latest challenge at Play Date Cafe, but then I mixed up the due date and didn't get the photos posted in time, d'oh!

I loved the inspiration image, neutrals + silver & gold:

The sponsor for the challenge was Jenni Bowlin Studio, and their design team inspiration (along with PDC's DT) was so awesome that I had to play along with my stash of JBS & Hambly goodies.

I love the mix of fabrics & metallics in the inspiration image, so I made sure to include a mix as well:  canvas, twine, gold & silver art mediums, overlays, & rub-ons.  So fun to put together!

For my journaling, I used a quote from Wild by Cheryl Strayed (thanks, book club!)

Thanks for the inspiration, PDC & JBS...next time I'll try not to be late to the party! :-)

April @ Elle's...

Ok, time for the full reveal of my April projects for Elle's Studio...all using the new & gorgeous Serendipity collection!

You saw the front of my card HERE, and now here's the inside:

Paper-scrap punched confetti, big gold sequins, and glassine...three of my favorite things, sigh. :)

Now for the layouts:

These new colors were perfect for these pink-sugar-cotton-candy photos.  I added in a bag of dewdrops, heart confetti, and pink glitter for good measure.

Lastly, a layout that has me yearning for summertime:

The journaling tags & tabs are perfect for a colorblock/grid style design.

For more Serendipity goodness, go check out the lovely Design Team Gallery.

I'm embarrassingly behind in my blog-browsing, so forgive me if I haven't stopped by yet...I so much appreciate each and every time someone takes the time to leave a sweet comment.
Wishing you a gorgeous weekend on this first week of April!
