Glitz + Mixed Media + Ali...

As summer break begins, I find myself going back to scrap last year's beach photos...I'm so ready for all that summer brings!

Here's a layout I created with lots of mixed media fun, along with some favorite tidbits from the Glitz Uncharted Waters collection:

The quote on the photo is from THIS post on Ali Edward's blog...using her CK handwriting font as well.

I so much related to her words about the sea and how it effects her in a calming way.  I see that same effect in both me and my children, such a magical change when we're able to relax near the sea.  I couldn't have said it better, so I used her quote as both title & journaling for my page.

For those of you heading into summer break, I wish you lots of chill-time, sun, and a calm heart!
For those blog readers on the other side of the globe, sending you sunny thoughts anyway, and we can switch roles once winter rolls in around here. :)

Color Shine, Baby!

I was definitely thrilled to win the Color Shine prize over at Chic Tags, and had such great fun creating a layout with my winnings, along with the some great printables from Chic Tags:

Color Shine + embossing, seriously one of my favorite new-found techniques!

Lily Bee Sketch Challenge...

I made time to jump in and join the May Sketch Challenge at Lily Bee...you've got until May 31st if you want to play along too, over @ the Lily Bee blog.

Here's mine, using Lily Bee stash products:

I loved using the alpha stickers for a long quote that serves as my title+journaling.  And I added some bokeh-style hearts to the photos, as well as a vintage filter.  Ah, these young pictures of the little ones take me back...

Thanks for the challenge, Lily Bee!

MME Sketch Challenge with Ronda...

LOVED this sketch by Ronda Palazzari and had to make time to play along with some fabulous new MME product:

I love the idea of little teeny bits of product, arranged in Ronda's artful way...reminded me of the detailed art of Bento, so that's the pic I used:

The "Sunshine Power" image from Rhonna's new MME line was a must for me...love this paper.

Too cute, am I right?!

SRM + NSD!

I want to say a big Thank You to Susan over at SRM Stickers, for the fun prize package I received.
I got creating right away, sprucing up two layouts with some great clear SRM stickers:

These sticker sentiments and stitched borders were perfect to finish off this use-my-stash layout, using a hoarded Studio Calico kit, teehee.  I so love how the stickers look here, and am so happy to finally have used some SC kit favorites I was having a hard time parting with!

Up next, a Chic Tags Sunday Challenge layout, again finished off with some SRM:

The SRM stickers look so great against the white photo mat.
For the mist challenge, I created some tone-on-tone stripes, accented with white mist streaks and blue mist splatters.

My camera has such a hard time capturing colors in the teal range, so you'll just have to trust that these blues and greens I used don't clash in real life, lol.

One last challenge I was able to finish up post-NSD...a pinterest-inspired challenge over at 2Peas.
I was inspired by Elizabeth Kartchner's layout HERE, and wanted to try my hand at a diecut white cardstock piece, backed with patterned paper.

Yes, I finally broke down and used my favorite papers from Maggie Holmes new collection...so gorgeous.

Oh those bows...just love them.  And I love how well the white cardstock looks with the rosebud pattern I chose to cut:

Thanks for stopping by today...and a very Happy Mother's Day weekend to those who are celebrating!

Cover Girls!

First and foremost, I need to blog about my cover girls!

The album is a mini Smash book, with MME, Elle's Studio, Maggie Holmes for Crate, and Simple Stories Vintage Bliss.

I'm so thrilled and honored to have created the cover project for the May/June issue of Creating Keepsakes!

When it came out on newsstands last week, I took the girls to Barnes & Noble and "happened" to walk by the craft magazines to see if they'd notice themselves on the shelf.  They were so surprised and felt very famous, lol.  Such a fun thing, something we will treasure for sure!

A big THANK YOU to the CK team for the surreal opportunity to put my little sweeties on the cover!

I'll be back tomorrow with some challenge layouts and a fun post about the projects I created with my SRM Stickers winnings, so see you then.

May @ Elle's...

It's time for the May reveal over at Elle's Studio...this month I was happy to play around with the new Limited Edition Serendipity vellum & tags.

This simple layout is all about the photos...so difficult to narrow holiday photos down, so I included as many as I could here.

The vellum was the perfect title + center accent...I layered it with tags, sequins, and labels...DONE!

Up next, a fun school layout of my little inventor...she invented a "homemade entertainment center" LOL.

I created a little ledge from a paper strip and foam adhesive...perfect for all the little circle tidbits:

And lastly, and not-a-surprise-anymore Mother's Day card for my mom:

Hope you are having a fabulous Monday so far, and that National Scrapbook Day was wonderful for you.
No scrapping this weekend for me, just lots of partytime fun with my 8-year-old birthday girl...more about that soon!
